Naturopathic Doctors are licensed as primary care physicians in the state of Washington. Employing all standard conventional diagnostic tools including physical examination, laboratory tests, and imaging, ND’s can perform minor office procedures appropriate to a primary care setting, administer vaccinations, and prescribe many standard drugs when indicated. Like other primary doctors, NDs can delegate to nurses and medical assistants and refer for specialty care. Naturopaths are perhaps best known for their individually tailored use of therapies such as dietetics, nutrition, botanical medicine, physical medicine, lifestyle counseling, exercise therapy, homeopathy, psychological and family counseling, and hydrotherapy. However the practice is best defined by its belief in the body’s ability to direct its own healing pace and process when given the proper opportunity and tools that build upon the following founding principles: |

Naturopathic doctors believe illness is more than just its presenting symptoms, and allow an hour for every first office visit in order to completely understand the background and influencing factors of the individual. Naturopathic doctors also work on a continuum of intervention, and try to use the least invasive methods of treatment possible. |
